Appliance Repair Near You in Milton, ON

Most appliance repair companies charge a diagnostic or service-call fee to come out and find the problem, and many credit it toward the repair if you go ahead. The repair itself is priced by parts and labour, and major repairs — such as a refrigerator compressor or sealed-system repair — cost much more than replacing a small part. Ask for a written quote after the diagnosis, and check whether HST is included.

Refrigerant handling requires an Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) certificate, and repairing refrigeration or air-conditioning equipment may also require the applicable trade qualification. For gas ranges, ovens and dryers, gas work generally must be done by a TSSA-registered contractor using a certified gas technician. Before the visit, ask which qualifications the technician holds for your appliance.

Many technicians suggest replacing rather than repairing when the repair would cost around half the price of a new appliance and the appliance is near the end of its expected life. Ask for the repair quote, the appliance's condition and whether parts are still available before you decide.
